Reducing restrictive Interventions in Schools

During this session a series of case studies will be presented detailing how safe spaces can be used for a range of purposes, including as a calm sensory, or therapeutic environment and how they can help to prepare children for learning. This seminar will explore how the introduction of a safe space in a school environment can be used to address sensory needs and as the least restrictive practice. A safe space can provide an invaluable resource for schools dealing with a range of students, especially for those with additional support needs including autism, sensory, self-injurious behaviours and behaviours that challenge.
