Beyond behaviour: Seeing the meaning in neurodivergent communication in the early years

When we reframe “challenging behaviour” as information, everything changes. We invite early years educators to look beneath the surface of behaviour and see the messages neurodivergent children are sending through their actions, emotions, and responses to the world around them. Drawing on a neurodiversity-affirming approach, we’ll explore how sensory differences, and unmet needs can drive distress and how to respond with curiosity, empathy, and connection. Through real-life examples and reflective practice tools, this session supports educators to move beyond behaviour management towards meaningful co-regulation.  Delegates will leave feeling empowered to create safer and more connected environments where every child is valued and understood.
