Preventing burnout in education: Supporting staff wellbeing

Teachers play a vital role in shaping the conditions for future generations to learn, grow, and thrive. While working in education can be deeply meaningful, it also comes with sustained pressures that can quietly build over time. Heavy workloads, constant emotional demands, and the complexity of relationships with students, parents, and colleagues can leave little space for people to look after their own wellbeing, increasing the risk of stress and burnout. This seminar explores the root causes of burnout and offers practical, preventative approaches to support staff wellbeing. We will look at how stress shows up in day to day life, why it can feel so overwhelming, and what can be done, both individually and collectively, to reduce its impact before it reaches breaking point.
