The importance of understanding retained primitive reflexes in a post pandemic world

Retained Primitive Reflexes have been around as a concept since at least the 1950’s yet there is still scant understanding of how they impact children. Since the pandemic and a generation of children growing up in a changed society, primitive reflexes are having an even greater impact and can partly explain why so many children are struggling. Reflexes are movement patterns and understanding these patterns and the mental, emotional and physical symptoms of when they are retained can change our view of behaviour, including simple movements into a school day can improve focus, attention, concentration and reduce anxiety.
