Practical ideas for training colleagues new to middle leadership

Many teachers secure promotion to middle leadership positions due to their prowess in the classroom, rather than their experience and knowledge of leadership and management. This seminar seeks to outline what a good in-house leadership training programme should look like.

Drawing from a range of recent publications on the art of leading from the middle, together with his experience as a headteacher in developing leaders, the presenter will explore and outline the key elements that should make up such a programme, including:
• Understanding leadership styles
• Getting communication right
• Creating and sustaining teams
• Owning self-evaluation and improvement planning.

Suitable for: Early years, primary, secondary, FE, ALN/SEND
