Diverse literature in schools

The session opens with some headlines from recent research on the diversity of literary texts taught in Wales – in Cymraeg, English and International Languages. It considers some of the barriers to diversifying texts in classrooms and recommended to pupils for reading for pleasure. Most of our time together, however, is devoted to exploring the project’s free, online, bilingual PDFs and videos to help teachers (also librarians and parents) discover diverse texts. These are available on Hwb and shared by BAMEed Cymru, Show Racism the Red Card, and UK-wide subject associations.

All slides and materials will be bilingual Cymraeg/English.
