What happens when wellbeing becomes part of teaching rather than an occasional outdoor activity?
Informed by work with teachers throughout the UK, this seminar explores how outdoor classrooms can support affective, relational, embodied and ecological learning. It introduces the Learning Outdoors for Affective Meaning pedagogical model, a framework designed to help teachers plan purposeful experiences rather than simply move lessons outside. Participants will consider how place, uncertainty, relationships and meaningful challenge can deepen learning and strengthen wellbeing. The session combines a research-informed rationale with ideas for teachers working across phases, subjects and settings, including schools with limited access to green space.
