The need to belong is hard-wired into human biology, and increasingly recognised as a significant factor in school attendance, behaviour and attainment. In this seminar Jean will explore the research on belonging and provide practical strategies for increasing school connectedness for all pupils – but particularly those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.
She will describe;
- Ways of building cohesive classes and tutor groups;
- How to increase peer group interaction and mutual support;
- How to make sure all children feel known and valued as individuals;
- How to build strong relationships between staff and pupils.
