EAL vs SEN / ALN and factors which may affect progress

EAL and SEN / ALN are certainly not the same thing, and this session looks at reasons why an EAL child might not be making the progress we expect. It examines what progress we can expect to see realistically and questions whether we are effectively building data, tracking and setting language targets that show progress. Common barriers to learning are often at play so Beth will highlight these, but she will also look at red flags for when SEN / ALN might be playing a role alongside EAL.
