Sensory communication for crisis situations

When triggered at a sensory level people enter ‘fight or flight’ mode (+ freeze, flop or fawn). In this mode access to vital brain processes that enable communication is lost, meaning that the strategies we ordinarily use to may no longer work.
In this seminar you’ll discover sensory flight paths and consider sensory communication techniques that can be used to support any distressed person to feel safe and calm.
The seminar will hold particular relevance to those supporting students with sensory differences who may experience distress more frequently than others and express this through their behaviour.
