Developing and Sustaining the Conditions to Thrive: Learning from a Trauma and ACE-informed Approach in Wales

This session will consider how, by adopting a trauma-and ACE-informed approach in the education system we can create the conditions that enable us to help children, young people, their families and the people who work so hard to support them feel hope.

Hope that they are able to learn and grow and provide wisdom in places that feel and are safe. Where that place is one that nurtures and connects people, the environment and reaches beyond the institution in amplifying a way of being that recognises that whatever any of us may be experiencing it can be overcome. Adversity and trauma can affect anyone us, but the opportunity to prevent harm and provide the right support to meet the needs of young people is vital. And we must co-produce this together across.

Hear from the young people themselves about what they hope this work can and has achieved, you might be surprised but what you won’t be is feeling despair. I will draw on research, experiences and realities from across Wales to bring that story of hope to Llandudno.
